Carriage Mounted Spreader Bar - As the name implies, this mast comprises 3 sections. The outside section mounts firmly to the lift truck. The next middle part telescopes in the outside section. The inmost section telescopes in the intermediate section. The inner part and the intermediate section both raise as the lift cylinders extend. Once again in this model, the fork carriage rides in the internal section. The 3 stage mast provides a shorter lowered height compared to the 2 stage mast. The common usage of the 3 stage mast is in areas like for instance doorways where overhead clearances are restricted. This particular mast is usually equipped with a center cylinder to let the fork carriage raise some distance before the mast sections commence extension.
There are two main sections in a 2 Stage Mast. The external part of the mast is mounted to the lift vehicle. The inner section sits inside the external part and elevates while the cylinders lengthen. The fork carriage is actually situated in the internal section. This particular mast type has a taller lowered height as opposed to an equivalent 3 stage mast or lift height quad mast.
